Lewis Hamilton started the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend where he finished at the Nurburgring by posting the fastest time in Friday’s first practice session.
The McLaren driver, who won last time out in Germany, set a quickest lap of 1 minute 23.350 seconds to finish just over two tenths up on reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Fernando Alonso, whose session started with a small fire, was less than a tenth further back in third place with Vettel’s Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber in fourth.

Webber’s session was brought to an abrupt end, however, as he hit the barriers at Turn 9 and had to limp back to the pits with a damaged nose.

Hamilton’s McLaren team-mate and fellow-Briton Jenson Button was fifth fastest, the 2009 champion out-speeding Brazilian Felipe Massa, back on the track where he suffered a life-threatening accident in 2009, in the second Ferrari.
German Nico Rosberg was seventh ahead of his compatriot and Mercedes team-mate seven-times champion Michael Schumacher.
Mexican Sergio Perez was ninth for Sauber and Russian Vitaly Petrov, who has drawn a vast following of fans to the race, was 10th for Renault. Khaleej Times

Scot Paul di Resta, who is looking to win his first points since the Malaysia GP, was 12th fastest for Force India.
Meanwhile, Bruno Senna, nephew of late three-time world champion Ayrton, drove the Renault car for the first time since February in place of Nick Heidfeld.
