Lewis Hamilton posted the fastest time in a tight second practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos.
The McLaren driver, who was victorious last time out in Abu Dhabi, posted a lap time of 1 minute 13.392 seconds to top a leaderboard that saw the first eight separated by less than half a second.
World champion Sebastian Vettel, who like Hamilton set his best time on a short run, finished the session in second position, over one-and-a-half tenths adrift.
Both Hamilton and Vettel embarked on long-distance runs in the latter stages of FP2, and it was the Red Bull driver who seemed to have the edge at that time, although the exact fuel loads of each driver were not clear.

Four-time Interlagos winner Michael Schumacher also enjoyed an encouraging session for Mercedes as the German outpaced Felipe Massa (Ferrari) and Button to take fifth, as the top seven runners were covered by just under four tenths of a second.
Nico Rosberg was not far back in the second Mercedes while the returning Adrian Sutil was also just 0.752s adrift of Hamilton’s pace for Force India, who continued to have both cars comfortably inside the top 10.
Although the session was short on incident, the pace improvements made by over the break by Ferrari and Mercedes in particular bode well for an exciting end to the season over the remainder of the weekend.
