World champion Sebastian Vettel set a blistering pace for Red Bull in the final practice session for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, leaving team-mate and closest challenger Mark Webber in his wake.
Vettel lapped the Albert Park circuit in one minute 24.507 seconds on a windy and overcast day in Melbourne, to finish 0.857 seconds faster than Australian Webber, who topped the time sheets in the first practice on Friday.
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton was third fastest with a time of 1:25.553, pipping team-mate Jenson Button, who recovered from an early skid on the gravel to post the fourth fastest lap. Yahoo! Eurosport UK

Renault’s Vitaly Petrov proved his team are in contention with the fifth best lap, but he was 1.399secs down, a further indicator, if it were needed, of just how frighteningly quick Red Bull and Vettel are.
Fernando Alonso was down in sixth in his Ferrari. 0.9secs ahead of team-mate Felipe Massa who had to settle for 12th, the Brazilian having struggled to find the ideal set-up so far.
In between the duo, Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi was seventh, followed by Nico Rosberg for Mercedes and Renault’s Nick Heidfeld. Seven-times champion Michael Schumacher had to settle for 10th. The Press Association
It was not such a promising day for Williams as yesterday. Rubens Barrichello was 16th on 1m 28.068s, as Pastor Maldonado put his car off the road in Turn Six early on, just after lapping the FW33 in 1m 30.496s which left him 21st.
Sergio Perez wound up 17th for Sauber on 1m 28.077s after an off-track moment, then came the Lotus duo of Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli on 1m 29.772s and 1m 30.003s respectively, and the improved Virgin of Timo Glock on 1m 30.261s. Jerome D’Ambrsio continued to impress in the other MVR02, lapping it in 1m 30.704s.
Tonio Liuzzi got his HRT out before the session was half over, but it rolled to a stricken halt after less than half a lap. Team mate Narain Karthikeyan got a run at last, lapping his F111 in 1m 41.554s after a couple of laps right before the end. Formula1
