Sebastian Vettel consolidated his Friday advantage around Marina Bay as he set the pace by six tenths of a second again in a damp Saturday evening final practice session.
The Red Bull driver, who needs a strong result here to get closer to the points summit, was already a couple of tenths clear of Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso before he uncorked a last-gasp lap of 1m48.350s on the soft tyres to secure his second straight practice top spot.
In fairness to his closest competitors though – particularly Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber – the appearance of yellow flags in the closing stages of the hour for Bruno Senna’s Hispania meant they lost the chance to set their most competitive times on the faster ‘option’ rubber.
