McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton won the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday with Toyota’s Timo Glock in second and Renault’s Fernando Alonso third. AFP

Hamilton started from the pole on Sunday and protected his lead to finish 9.6 seconds ahead of Timo Glock. The German equaled Toyota’s best Formula One result by finishing second. Usa Today

Button followed Sebastian Vettel home in fifth place having overhauled his Brawn team-mate Rubens Barrichello at the Briton’s last stop. It means he has extended his championship lead by one point with three races remaining. Barrichello finished sixth ahead of Heikki Kovalainen as Robert Kubica picked up the final points position after a late-race battle for eighth, holding off Kazuki Nakajima and Kimi Raikkonen. guardian.co.uk
