McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton was fastest in Friday’s practice for the German Grand Prix, while Red Bull’s and Brawn GP’s drivers were again among the leaders.
Defending Formula One champion Hamilton set a fastest lap of 1 minute, 32.149 seconds around the Nuerburgring circuit to lead Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and overall leader Jenson Button of Brawn. USA Today
The last time he topped a practice session was in Bahrain on April 24 and McLaren have not finished in the points in their last four races.
Hamilton had suggested on Thursday that little would change in the wake of a wretched sequence of results which has seen him fail to make the second round of qualifying at the last three grands prix. With just nine points from eight races to date, Hamilton currently trails title leader Jenson Button by a yawning 55, with McLaren’s focus already starting to switch towards next season.
Despite a late spin, Hamilton brushed that aside and promptly put up a time of one minute 32.149 seconds no-one was able to better in the closing stages, pushing Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel down into second. The Press Association
