Nick Fry, the team boss of Brackley-based Honda F1 has hinted that the team may have an all-new driver line-up for the 2009 season.

Neither Jenson Button or Rubens Barrichello are guaranteed a seat at Honda beyond this season Fry has warned.

With both Button and Barrichello’s contracts expiring at the end of the year, Fry claims that the Brackley-based team is an increasingly attractive proposition amongst other talented drivers on the market.

“We’re open minded at the moment and our drivers are aware of that,” Fry said.

It is well-known that Honda is hoping to capitalise on the sweeping rule changes by switching its focus to building a new 2009 car, rather than spend huge resources on the further development of its 2008 car – a machine that has shown good point-scoring form of late in the hands of both Button and Barrichello.
