Formula One suddenly seems to be the favoured destination for Indian investors. Sources said that a consortium of Indian investors is keen on investing in F1 team BMW-Sauber, which announced its pullout from Formula One in July.
The deadline for applications for interested buyers was 5pm (European time) on Friday and sources said that “Indian investors have made an application to purchase the BMW-Sauber team”.
The German car maker BMW, which decided to exit the sport as part of its strategic realignment and also because of high costs, had earlier rejected Peter Sauber’s rescue offer of 45 million euros and have no obvious buyers on the horizon.
