Infiniti extended its partnership with the successful Red Bull Racing F1 team for 2012 at the Korean Grand Prix back in October. The race was won by Sebastian Vettel, who is the global ambassador for Nissan’s luxury vehicle brand, and he clinched the constructor’s championship for Red Bull with three races yet outstanding in the 2011 season.
In 2012, Infiniti plans to display prominent branding on the Red Bull Racing F1 cars, with logos on the chassis and cockpit tops. Drivers’ overalls and teams’ equipment will also sport the Infiniti brand.
In addition to their F1 partnership, Infiniti will continue to build on their personal agreement with Sebastian Vettel, which surely culminates in the launch of the Infiniti FX SebastionVettel Version. This is the first road car that the German driver has worked on in collaboration with engineers, and is the performance version of Infiniti’s slick FX50. It’s also the first-ever Vettel-badged road car, and hailed as the fastest and lightest FX to date.
It was announced in Frankfurt and unveiled at the glittering Dubai Motor Show, along with a full line of Infiniti Luxury vehicles including the newly introduced G25, the 2012 FX 35 and FX 50, and examples from the Infiniti ranges on sale in the Middle East, including coupes, sedans, convertibles and crossovers.
But what’s so special about the Vettel FX? It has a variety of upgrades to make it look sleeker and go faster. Two of its major appeals are boosted downforce and reduced drag, with every aspect of the vehicle from shaped door mirror housings to 20-millimetre height reduction supporting these aspects. The 5.0-litre V8 enginehas a total output of 414 horsepower and achieves a top speed of 186 miles per hour, and it’s zero to 60 is much quicker than its counterpart FX50.
Infiniti and Red Bull Racing are partnership to watch in 2012; whether they’re on the track or in production. They’re planning to increase global and market coverage by intensifying media activities, and this probably means they’ve got something to shout about.
