Championship leader Jenson Button is showing some of the same character traits as Formula One legend Michael Schumacher, says team chief Ross Brawn.
In 2004 Brawn and Button’s team-mate Rubens Barrichello were at Ferrari when Schumacher won the first five races. In 2009 Button has won five out of six.
“Rubens has had his occasions when he beat Michael and he was a pretty strong reference,” said Brawn.
“The fact Jenson’s won these races with Rubens in the team sets the standard.”

Speaking on the eve of the Monaco Grand Prix, won by Hamilton last year, the McLaren star said: “I don’t feel more respect for Jenson as a driver because of the tough times he has been through. I’ve always had a lot of respect for him.
“I’ve known him since I was nine years old. Since he arrived in Formula One he’s been a superstar.
“He had problems, got in a car that was not particularly quick and things went downhill rather than up and he struggled for years. I’m in a very similar position now. It’s a great feeling for him to finally get a good car and understand how that feels. I’m just very happy for everyone at Brawn.” Daily Record.co.uk
Button’s fifth win of the season in Monaco on Sunday spawned a deluge of newspaper headlines declaring the title race null and void. Comparisons were drawn with bore-athon seasons of yesteryear watching Michael Schumacher go round and round with the same end result.
But can the title race really be over with 11 races still to go? Telegraph.co.uk
