Logan Boyett held off a hard- charging field and a caution filled race to bring home his third win of the 2007 season after leading all 40 laps in his No. 11 Boyett’s/ Bill’s RV Service Pro Late Model at Five Flags Speedway on Friday night.
Logan was to start outside pole for the night’s event, quickly taking the lead and “just took off. ” After several cautions in less than 13 laps, Logan was hoping to see a long green flag run.
“I was going nuts. I just wanted to see the green flag the whole time, ” the 17 year-old commented.
Finally, Logan was granted his wish and was on a roll until the second place car of Brandon Carlson appeared on his back bumper.
“We figured it was going to be a race between me and Brandon, ” the young driver stated after the race. “On a restart, he was able to get underneath me and we made some pretty good contact, but he ended up spinning out and I was able to save mine. ”
Logan was able to hold on through a couple more cautions to come home with his third victory of the season at Five Flags Speedway.
“The car started to get a little tight coming off the corners [towards the end], but not too bad. I was able to compensate for it, ” commented the Pensacola teen. “It just tightened up as the race went on. It actually ended up being a little loose off because I was trying to keep it down. ”
Logan revved up the fans by doing a Polish Victory lap and paying homage to the late great Dale Earnhardt Sr.
“I pulled up on the front straight away and turned around and did a tribute salute to Earnhardt, ” Logan said. “Lots of people seemed to like it. ”
Logan’s next race at Five Flags Speedway will be on October 5th, where he will be going for win number four. You can also see him race at Mobile International Raceway this Saturday night.
