Lotus Exige Adds Spice To Performance Car Championship

Iconic British sports car make Lotus will add spice the 2007 Australian Performance Car Championship for production-based touring and sports cars following approval of the Exige coupe as an eligible vehicle.
Up to six Lotus Exiges will be on the grid beside a variety of Ford FPVs, Holden HSVs, BMWs, Mitsubishis, Subarus, Nissans and other makes when the season starts at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park circuit at the end of this month.
All eight rounds of the championship will be run at V8 Supercar events and covered on television by the national Seven Network.
Lotus drivers have enthusiastically welcomed the chance to join the Performance Car championship in the main arena of Australian motor racing.
Addition of the 1.8 litre Toyota-powered Exige to the Performance Car vehicle eligibility list was announced by category manager Craig Nayda, following extensive negotiations with owners and the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.
“The Lotuses will enhance the model diversity and market relevance of the championship, which is based around high-performance cars that can be bought new in Australia, ” Mr Nayda said.
