Australian Mark Webber put Red Bull is the fastest in final practice for the Chinese Grand Prix on Saturday.
The Red Bull driver set a best time of 1:35.323 yesterday by beating the rhythm marked by Lewis Hamilton, who was second today, more than two tenths of a second, before qualifying this afternoon.
The winner of the Malaysian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel, was third fastest in the second Red Bull, the German has finished ahead of world champion, Jenson Button, with the other McLaren in what appears to be a thrilling battle for pole. Daily News
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso put the engine problems that had wrecked his first practice session yesterday behind him to record the fifth fastest time while Nico Rosberg was sixth in his Mercedes.
The young German once again got the better of compatriot and team-mate Michael Schumacher with the seven-time world champion clocking the seventh fastest lap.
Renault’s Robert Kubica was eighth, while current drivers’ championship leader Felipe Massa was ninth in his Ferrari with the BMW Sauber of Kamui Kobayashi completing the top 10. The Press Association
Tonio Liuzzi made good on his promise to go quicker, taking his Force India round in 1m 37.031s for 12th ahead of Sebastien Buemi in the second Toro Rosso on 1m 37.192s and Adrian Sutil in the other Force India on 1m 37.240s. Petrovs 1m 37.339s left him 15th, chased by the Williams of Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg, which sandwiched Pedro de la Rosas BMW Sauber with times of 1m 37.585s, 1m 37.664s and 1m 37.784s respectively.
This day it was Virgin’s turn to head the newbies, with Timo Glock lapping his VR-01 in 1m 39.579s to head Heikki Kovalainen’s Lotus on 1m 39.616s and team mate Lucas di Grassi on 1m 39.749s. Jarno Trulli was right behind the Brazilian, with 1m 39.776s in the second Lotus. Bruno Senna was HRT’s leader this time with 1m 40.316s, Karun Chandhok taking the sister car round in 1m 41.141s.
