Lewis Hamilton will have to go for broke in this year’s title race after another bombshell rule change was announced - just days before the start of the season.
For the first time in the sport’s history, this year’s world championship will be decided by wins and NOT points - unless there is a tie.
It is sure to be welcomed by Hamilton, who is one of the best racers on the grid.

But the announcement may be a blow to his hopes of defending his crown since McLaren have admitted their car is off the pace.
“If you were a climber and you’ve climbed Everest, then you don’t fear doing it again. It’s something that you know you can do,” said McLaren chairman Ron Dennis.
“What you have to do is look at different ways of achieving it. The challenges this year, with a new set of regulations, are different to last. And just as a climber varies his route, I think that’s how you have to look at Lewis’s approach.”
“He will be very focussed on those areas where he has to raise his game.”
