STREAKS:
Daytona Prototype points leader Scott Pruett has finished inside the top 10 in the last six Rolex Series events dating to last year. Included in the run was his season-opening victory in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, as well as victories in events at Infineon Raceway and Watkins Glen International last August… In the GT class, there has been at least one Pontiac on the class podium in 20 consecutive races, dating to the CompUSA 200 at The Glen last August. There has also been at least one Porsche on the GT podium in the last eight Rolex Series events.
VIVA MEXICO:
The Mexico City 400k will feature four Mexican-born drivers. In the Daytona Prototype class, Mexico City’s Memo Rojas will co-drive the No. 01 TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing Lexus Riley with American Scott Pruett. American driver Memo Gidley was born in La Paz, Mexico and will share the No. 77 Kodak/Star Motorsports Ford Doran with another Mexico City native, Jorge Goeters. Mexico will be represented in the GT class by Pepe Montano, who is co-driving the No. 24 Matt Connolly Motorsports BMW M3 with John Lewis. A Mexico-born driver has won both of the two previous Rolex Series events at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, with Gidley taking the victory in the inaugural race in 2005 alongside then-co-driver Michael McDowell with Finlay Motorsports and Luis Diaz won last year with Pruett in the No. 01 machine.
MILESTONES APPROACHING:
No. 01 TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing Lexus Riley driver Scott Pruett moved into a tie for most overall victories all-time in Rolex Series competition with James Weaver by notching his 13th overall win in the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona and will take over sole possession with one more victory… Lexus is one victory away from moving into a second-place tie with Ford for second on the overall engine victories list. Lexus has 16 overall wins, Ford has 17 and Pontiac leads the way with 21 victories.
