The 2007 IMSA Lites Presented by Hankook season is about to begin and Mishael Abbott is ready to go. She will debut her B-K Motorsports prepared Elan DP02 at Sebring International Raceway next week in the IMSA Lites 1 Championship.
Mishael is definitely familiar with the Sebring 12 hour track. She finished first among DP02 cars this January at the SCCA Winter Vacation Nationals at Sebring and has first place and podium finishes in her Formula Mazda. Mishael even set the course record in a professional shifter-kart in April 1999.
The first two races of the IMSA Lites 1 Championship are set for Thursday, March 15 and Friday, March 16 as support for the American Le Mans Series 55th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring (www.imsaracing.net).
“I am looking forward to being back at the race track and beginning the run for the Championship,†Mishael Abbott said. “Sebring is a challenging track but it is a place where I have had success. I hope to continue that success with podium finishes in these opening two races.â€
Mishael Abbott has teamed with B-K Motorsports and continues her association with Mazda. Her Lites 1 car #63 is powered by a Mazda MP2 2.3 liter engine supplied and sealed by Elan Power Products. In the American Le Mans Series P2 Championship, B-K Motorsports and MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development will debut with two all-new features: the Mazda MZR-R engine and purpose built Lola B07/40 chassis during the Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The IMSA Lites Presented by Hankook, began its first season in 2006 and is seeing tremendous growth. Now divided in three class, the Lites 1 class features the carbon fiber composite monocoque Elan DP02, designed and produced by Elan Motorsports Technologies, the group that designed and produced the next generation Champ Car, DP01.
Mishael Abbott is pursuing her formal education at the University of Indianapolis working on a sports management degree.
