Nelson Piquet’s Formula 1 debut hasn’t gone quite according to plan. The Renault rookie is looking for his first points in Sunday’s Bahrain GP but admits it won’t be easy.
He said: “Without a doubt, F1 is a lot harder than I imagined. The results haven’t been great, but I’m happy to be here.”
Piquet made the leap from test driver in 2007 to partner Fernando Alonso at Renault in 2008 – and immediately faced a lot of extra pressure.
He failed to finish the season–opening Australian GP in Melbourne and was 11th in the Malaysian GP on March 23.
