Porsche Drivers Challenge Heats up For Queensland Round of Australian Gt Championship

Burchartz’s Sonic team tested at Winton last week where the car showed very good speed, but also concedes ‘it’s a tricky place with a layout that seems simple, but is very technical and can give speed where you least expect it’.

‘The main aim is to be the first Porsche home and build up the points…I have some serious catching up to do! ’

Another driver sure to be super competitive in the Supaloc sponsored ex-Bryce Washington Porsche GT3 Cup Car is Gary Dann, sitting second in the points score.

Dann had a poor start to the season at the A1GP meeting at Eastern Creek crashing his car in qualifying, but came back strongly at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide round finishing fourth outright, and also impressed at Bathurst by qualifying 15th in his first visit to the mountain and finishing race 1 in 10th position and race 2 in 8th.

Paul Tresidder (Porsche GT3 Cup Car), having joined Wall Racing in his Pelorus Property Group sponsored machine, is producing consistent results and will be looking to retain or better his current third position in the Porsche drivers Challenge points.

Other consistent performers are Peter Fountas (Jaylec/Buzza Auto Electrics Porsche GT3 Cup Car), and Blake Lynn (Lynns Building Materials Porsche GT3), although the latter had frustrating problems with his car at the Clipsal 500 round which has affected his overall position.

Jon Trende (WTF Porsche GT3 Cup Car) returns in a re-shelled machine following a big hit at the Clipsal 500 but is happy with the re-built car having tested at Winton with his Sonic team mate, Burchartz. Trende is looking forward to getting back into race mode and getting some points on the board

Three drivers who missed round two at the Clipsal 500 but who will be competing in Queensland are Max Twigg (Trueloc Flooring Porsche GT3 Cup Car), Paul Bolinowsky (Bolin Racing Porsche GT3), and Anthony Skinner (Travelplan Porsche GT3).

Twigg will certainly be one to watch having shown he can take the battle up to leaders and his arch rival Burchartz, while Bolinowsky and Skinner will be keen to work their way up the points score.
