Question: Sebastian Vettel made history with his victory: what is your impression of the young German driver?
Nelson Piquet Jr.: I like Sebastian and it’s a great result for him and Toro Rosso. They have made a lot of progress with their car and Sebastian has made the most of it.
Question: Your team-mate at Renault Fernando Alonso has said that Scuderia Toro Rosso are now the third strongest team in Formula One behind McLaren and Ferrari - do you agree with that assessment? Who are now closest to the top two?
Nelson Piquet Jr.: Looking at the race in Monza, you would have to say yes, especially as his teammate was just as quick. But I think the track especially suited their car and that the pecking order will change from race to race.
Question: What do you expect to be the biggest difference during F1’s first night race in Singapore?
Nelson Piquet Jr.: It will be the working hours because although we will be in the Far East we will be working on a European schedule. We will be coming to the track late in the afternoon and leaving early in the morning. It will be strange and I’ve got a special routine to make sure it doesn’t upset my body clock too much.
Question: Which of the remaining races represents your best chance of snatching another podium?
Nelson Piquet Jr.: Getting another podium in a normal race won’t be easy, but if we have some unusual races and unpredictable weather, anything is possible. We have to make sure we are there to make the most of any chances.
Question: What do Renault have to do to finish fourth in the constructors’ championship ahead of Toyota, Toro Rosso and Red Bull?
Nelson Piquet Jr.: We are already on level terms with Toyota and so we need to continue what we are doing and aim for points in all of the remaining races. Beating Toyota is our priority and the whole team believes that we can do it.
