Red Bull Racing will retain their 2009 line-up for next season despite speculation linking former world champion Kimi Raikkonen will the squad.
It has been suggested two-times grand prix winner Mark Webber, who triumphed in the penultimate race of the season in Brazil last weekend, could be moved to ‘junior’ sister outfit Toro Rosso to make way.
Red Bull were reportedly unhappy with comments the Australian made concerning Flavio Briatore, his manager and former Renault managing director who was banned for life for playing a key role in that team’s ‘Crashgate’ scandal.
He said he would never employ anyone other than Briatore in that role. Yahoo! Eurosport
Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen, who is now likely to defect to McLaren, was reportedly shaping as a replacement for the Australian in 2010.
Red Bull had previously committed to Webber and Sebastian Vettel for the new campaign and Red Bull Racing boss, Christian Horner dismissed the scuttlebutt in the wake of Webber’s second race victory at Interlagos.
“That’s a rumour that does not exist within our team,” he said.
“We all know where we stand with Mark next year, and he does too.
“He’s a great team player, we’re very happy with his performance, so there is no doubt that Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber will be our race drivers next year.” Fox Sports
