Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber continued to dominate practice for the British Grand Prix on Friday afternoon, with the German lapping in 1m 19.456s and the Australian 1m 19.597s. However, there was hair on the cake as Webber’s RB5 rolled to a halt at Stowe after an hour with suspected mechanical problems. F1.com
In both the morning and afternoon, the duo were head and shoulders above the rest of the field, with Vettel on top on each occasion, narrowly edging out Webber.
The young German’s fastest lap of the day came in the dying embers of first practice, knocking Webber off top spot with a lap of one minute 19.400 seconds, with the 21-year-old only 0.056secs slower in the second session.
Australian Webber, who finished 0.282secs adrift in the morning, managed to exactly halve that deficit later on, but as for the rest, they were left floundering. The Press Association
German Adrian Sutil of Force India was unexpectedly third ahead of Japan’s Kazuki Nakajima of Williams, with two-time world champion Spaniard Fernando Alonso fifth for Renault.

Sutil, revelling in his form, unfortunately ran across the front of the car of his veteran Italian team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella when he returned to the pits.
Barrichello was one place ahead of defending world champion Briton Lewis Hamilton in the leading McLaren Mercedes and Italian Jarno Trulli in a Toyota.
German Nico Rosberg was ninth for Williams and Brazilian Nelson Piquet 10th for Renault, just ahead of Pole Robert Kubica in the leading BMW Sauber. AFP
