After a month of steady work at their north Georgia workshop, the Tafel Racing team is anxious to go racing again in round four of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve at the beautiful Virginia International Raceway, in Alton, Va. German Wolf Henzler, who will drive the # 74 Rembrandt Charms Porsche GT3 Cup, has good memories of VIR from the 2006 season.
“I qualified on the pole in the rain last year at VIR, so it is a track I really like. The many chicanes make it challenging to find the right setup, but I feel confident. We ran well there last year and I am hoping to find our first podium finish of the season.” Co-driving the #74 will be Eric Lux of Buffalo, NY. “I am looking forward to racing at VIR; it is one of my favorite race circuits and I believe Wolf and I will have an opportunity to be very fast. Hopefully, we will be able to be as fast as the Mazda.”
Behind the wheel of the #72 North-South Machinery.com Porsche will be Andrew Davis of Bogart, Ga. and Californian Nathan Swarzbaugh. Davis is looking forward to the challenges of the 3.27-mile circuit. “VIR is one of the best circuits on the Rolex schedule. It is very smooth and has a great combination of technical corners and high speed straights. The uphill esses are made up of some of the most exciting corners in North America.” Swartzbaugh has never raced at VIR, but is relying on technology to get up to speed quickly.
