This weekend Tafel Racing heads back to the track where they found their first victory last season, feeling confident that they are in a position to repeat that success. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will open its 50th Anniversary season with the U. S. Sports Car Invitational delivered by Luggage Express in round five of the Rolex Sports Car Series.
The 72 North South Machinery Porsche GT3 Cup will be in the capable hands of Andrew Davis and Nathan Swartzbaugh.
Davis, of Bogart, Ga., is coming off his best finish of the season at VIR where he qualified 3rd and finished 4th. “My first taste of Laguna Seca a few years ago left me wanting more. I wish the track was twice as long because it is tremendous fun to drive. Tafel Racing scored its first victory at this race last year, and I am optimistic that Nathan and I can match last year’s result. The team has been working non-stop to improve the car, and Nathan and I have been training hard to put our best effort into this event. “
