Massa insisted that his season has not been ruined by the frustrating afternoon he endured at the British Grand Prix in the last round as he looks to return to winning ways at Hockenheim this weekend.
Despite five spins in tricky conditions leaving him last of 13 finishers at Silverstone, the Brazilian retains a share of the world championship lead with team-mate Raikkonen and McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who won his home race.
“Everybody can have a bad day, but I had a very bad weekend,” he said."It started on Friday with the crash then on Saturday there was the problem with the [qualifying] pit-stop, and then, on Sunday, it was a disastrous race.
“After Silverstone, the team at Maranello worked a lot on many different aspects, such as improving the procedures at the track.
“The [Hockenheim] test results are very encouraging for the upcoming weekend. I like this track, and have had some pretty good races there.
“As I’ve said before, there’s still a long way to go, everything can happen and the championship is wide open.”
