Jason Workman maintains his busy racing schedule by traveling to Mexico City to compete in the 2nd round of the Rolex GT series on March 3rd, held at the famous Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez race circuit. It is Workman’s first visit to the Mexican track. In a series that is dominated by Porsche in number of entries, but attracting a wide variety of manufacturers, Workman is scheduled to co-drive the number 21 Matt Connolly Motorsports prepared BMW M3 with team owner Matt Connolly as his co-driving teammate. A second MCM entry features John Lewis and Mexican driver Pepe Montano in the #24 BMW M3.
Workman is no stranger to international competition. In fact, he has thrived on it. His greatest success as a driver came by way of Europe where he was crowned the Scandinavian Formula 2000 Champion. “I’ve been to many European circuits, but this track does not compare to the traditional hilly terrain circuits of Europe. It’s flat and should be well suited for our BMWs. By way of comparison, Daytona has high-speed banking, this course has less high-end speed. Our BMW M3s are far better suited to fast twisty sections relying on quick and predictable handling over top-end speed to drive a fast lap. â€
After the disappointing DNF at the season opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, Workman and his MCM teammates are striving to put the BMWs at the top end of the results column when the checkered flag falls.
“I’m looking forward to Mexico City, †said Workman. “I think that both MCM cars are capable of top five finishes here. The BMW M3 has done well here in the past and I believe we are in a great position to repeat that kind of performance this year. I feel confident that we can regain some lost ground in Mexico and put the MCM program back on the right track! â€
