Andrea Hans led the first ten laps of Saturday night’s INEX Legends feature at the Illiana Motor Speedway before finishing fourth overall and first in the Semi-Pro division.
Hans, 17, overcame earlier handling issues to be fast in the main event. “We made a change to the car before qualifying and went the wrong way, which killed our qualifying lap. But I ended up starting on the pole and the car was much better in the feature so everything turned out really good. They mix the Pros and Masters in with the Semi-Pro cars there, and I led ten laps before some of those guys got by me. I was excited to win my division and finishing fourth overall was not bad considering where we were in practice and qualifying. I know we can do better, but I’m still learning how to win at this level so right now a top five is a good night.”
Next on the schedule for the team is a doubleheader weekend this Friday and Saturday at the Indianapolis Speedrome. “I like racing the Speedrome,” Andrea said. “It’s a really hard track to get around correctly, but I enjoy the tight racing there. We’re looking forward to this weekend!”
