The World of Outlaws have competed a total of 15 times at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway dating back to 2000. For each of the next 15 days leading up to the inaugural Outlaws World Finals, each of those 15 events will be recounted leading up to the opening night of the Outlaws World Finals on November 1 at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Today will focus on the first World of Outlaws event at the state-of-the-art facility, which was held on May 25, 2000.
In the inaugural World of Outlaws event at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway three-time series champion Sammy Swindell led all 30 laps of the preliminary feature to put his name in the history books as the first winner with the series at the track.
Jac Haudenschild was second, with Paul McMahan third, Donny Schatz fourth, Tim Shaffer sixth, Daryn Pittman eighth and Steve Kinser charged from the 24th starting spot to finish 10th.
Other current World of Outlaws drivers that also competed in that event included: Joey Saldana, Craig Dollansky, Danny Lasoski, and Jason Meyers.
In time trials, Mark Kinser set a track record with a lap of 11.990 seconds to pace the 49-car field
