Cruising was the word on the street Friday night when more than 1,500 people came to show off their classic cars, motorcycles and modern muscle cars.
“This brings me back to when I was a boy, 50 years ago,” said Robert Cernansky of Johnstown.
Walking the four blocks of vehicles packed along the street and lining the parking lots brought sights like a 2003 street-modified Honda Civic sitting next to a 1967 Pontiac GTO.
Harley-Davidson Fat Boys and Duo Glides sat across from a 1929 Ford Sedan Street Rod as a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T rolled by.
“I’m seeing cars I haven’t seen in years,” said organizer James Spinos.
The owners of the hotel also sponsored the band Day Well Spent, which played for the crowds gathered in Miners Park. A number of local vendors set up shop to feed and quench the thirst of the crowd gathered around the gazebo.
For the Windber Fire Co. No.1, the event is a much-needed opportunity to raise money through beverage sales.
