Chrysler’s new minivans, the 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country, will be “trickling into dealerships in time for Christmas,” said Ralph Gilles, who is the president and chief executive of Dodge and the senior vice president of design for the Chrysler Group.
In February, the company will introduce a “man van,” formally known as the Dodge Grand Caravan RT, with “more serious performance,” he said.
The minivans have been reworked outside and in. The Grand Caravan no longer sports the Ram’s head. It now features the “split crosshair” grille.
Both will have a 6-speed automatic transmission; the 4-speed is gone.
The vans will have an Eco mode that will change both throttle and transmission responses, he said.
