He doesn’t have his drivers license and is still in middle school yet he sits behind a race car that goes 180 mph and wins races against people twice his age.
His name is Blake Jones from Sevierville and he has been dubbed a race car prodigy who is making big headlines in the racing world.
Jimmy Johnson better watch out because Blake Jones is hot on his trail.
Blake says “Racing is all I’ve ever done. I’ve never really had any interest in playing basketball, football, or soccer. Racing is just my talent that I’m good at.”
But Blake isn’t just good at racing; he is the first 13 year old to actually win.
He has high aspirations saying, ” I want to become the next Jimmy Johnson. Win championships and hopefully be the youngest to do it.”
Blake has won in over 40 races and has been crowned “Rookie of the Year” in 4 different series but he has stayed grounded through it all.
” You have to remember where you come from when you do get there. You can’t let anything change your personality”
It is a long road to become a Nascar driver but he is far ahead of anyone his age. Blake says that racing wouldn’t be possible without the help, dedication and support of his friends and especially his family.
