Over 85 drivers entered the racing program last Friday at the Tri-City Speedway. The increase in entries added to the excitement for the added number of fans that have found Auto Racing’s only address in the San Antonio area. There were a number of drivers who have made the switch from the pavement to the dirt and found that they could finish well on the dirt oval. It was just a matter of changing their tires and their mindset.

In the Street Stock division ex-pavement drivers lead the field to the finish line. Winner of the feature event was Rusty Mirth driving his Chevy pick-up. Following Mirth to the winner’s circle was San Antonio’s Eric Knudtson, another ex pavement driver turned dirt driver. Rounding out the top three in the Street Stock competition was Elmendorf’s Jimmie Phillips.
