More Drivers and Fans Discover the Excitement of Dirt Track Racing

Howie Marx of Somerset lead the field of Super Stocks to the checkered flag in the feature event. Elmendorf’s Gary “Taz” Hunter captured runner-up honors ahead of Helotes’s David “the Crazy Cajun” Boudreau.

Sixteen Pure Stocks took the green flag for their feature event and again provided fans with “slam bang fender banging” excitement. George Reyes was awarded top spot followed by Beeville’s Jimmy Schanen, and Mickey Faulknes racing out of Canyon Lake.

Friday’s racing program featured the popular Texana Classic Dwarfs, the 3/8th size replicas of the coupes and sedans of the early 50’s. The green flag flew on the first race for the Dwarf Cars and as they entered turn one Stockdale’s Josh Hunt did his best impression of the Dukes of Hazzard, sending his orange number #01 over the tire barrier end for end. Josh was able to stroll by the grand stands on his way back to the pit area, while his car was towed and did not return. When the checkered flag flew over the Dwarf Car feature it was Adkins’s driver Dave Tedford leading the way. Second place went to Houston’s Andy Cline Jr., ahead of Bay City’s Stew Savage.

In action for the IMCA Mods it was Steve Whiteaker, Jr of Corpus Christi taking top honors ahead of Kerrrville’s Greg Dinsmore and Inez’s Max Helms.

Sport Mod competition was won by David Meredith of Gonzales, followed by San Antonio’s Johnny Torres and Steve Whiteaker, Sr.

Brian Shaw of Elmendorf repeated as the feature winner of the Texas Outlaw Modifieds with Chris Snocker, of San Antonio picking up second place ahead of Herb Shaw.

The excitement of dirt track racing is scheduled for 8:00pm next Friday night at the Tri-City Speedway, located on the frontage road of I-37 at mile post 101.
