NARA Battle Of The Bluegrass Modified Series Return To Soggy Bottom Raceway On Saturday

After a 2 year break, the NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series will return to Soggy Bottom Raceway this Saturday for its season finale and the $5,000 to win “Battle of the Bottom. ” The event will mark the largest purse in the history of the Series and the Morgantown, KY racetrack for a Modified race. In addition to the NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series regulars, a number of the region’s top Modified drivers are expected to be in attendance.

The “Battle of the Bottom” will be a complete racing program for the NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series with Time Trials, Heats, B-Mains, and the $5000 to win “Battle of the Bottom” A-Main. Gates are slated to open at 1PM with Hot Laps set to go at 3PM, with Time Trials at 4PM. Racing begins at 6PM. All times listed are central times.

Last week, current Series points leader Joey Kramer led all but 4 laps of the 25 lap A-Main at 201 Speedway to take his Series leading 4th win of 2007, and all but wrap up the 2007 series championship. Heading into the season finale, Shon Flanary finds himself 288 points behind Kramer. For Flanary, 2007 has been a dream season. The Mt. Carmel, TN driver has scored more than 20 feature victories, including his first two career wins with the NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series, and looks to score the biggest win of his career at Soggy Bottom on Saturday.

Behind Flanary, Dennis Roberson sits 220 points out of 2nd. Roberson started the season off with bang, winning the Series opener at Richmond Raceway in April, and has found himself in the top 5 in the Series standings ever since. After a blown engine at Tazewell sidelined the Lexington, KY driver’s #41t team, Gary Ward stepped in to help put Roberson in the #14 Smith Racing Engines Lightning Chassis to finish out the 2007 season.

Behind Roberson sits one of the hottest drivers on the circuit, Josh Lucas. After nearly scoring his first career Series win at Richmond on September 15th, the Bardstown, KY driver followed it up with a solid 7th place finish last Saturday at 201 Speedway. Lucas currently finds himself 221 points behind Roberson for 3rd, and will look to continue his success at Soggy Bottom. Rounding out the top 5 is 2004 Series champion Kelly Warren, 75 points behind Lucas. The Columbia, KY driver will look to score his first Series win since July 2006, and put an exclamation point on his 2007 racing season.
