The four-seat Ferrari FF, a race car with room for the kids, raises a number of interesting questions, one of which is: Would it ever be boring enough sitting in the back seat of a Ferrari to want to watch TV?
Indeed, the FF comes with video screens built into the back of the front seats, an amenity that reflects Ferrari’s attempt to create a car that can handle a racetrack as well as a trip to Disney World. The FF can hit 60 miles, or about 97 kilometers, per hour in 3.7 seconds, but has four comfortable seats and is designed to be civilized enough for everyday use.
The FF, which will cost several hundred thousand dollars, will compete in a very exclusive segment that includes four-seat cars by Bentley, Maserati, Aston Martin and Porsche.
The car has four-wheel drive, and the promotional video showed it drifting around curves on a snowy road and kicking up a plume of dust on an unpaved stretch of desert. Mr. di Montezemolo said that while he expected the United States and Europe to remain Ferrari’s biggest markets, the FF would be easier to sell in Russia or other emerging countries where roads and weather might be poor.
