Heartland Park Topeka owner Raymond Irwin announced today that AT&T will be the presenting sponsor of the 2007 SCCA National Championship Runoffs.

“AT&T has been a long time friend and supporter of HPT activities, both racing and community events, ” said Irwin. “HPT is pleased to provide AT&T with the opportunity to receive nation-wide recognition for their involvement through the SCCA Runoffs. ”

The National Championship Runoffs is the signature event of the Sports Car Club of America’s Club Racing season. In 2006, Heartland Park Topeka became just the fifth track to host the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in the 43-year history of the event. The change in venue marks the first time in over 30 years the event has been held west of the Mississippi River. Heartland Park Topeka will host this prestigious event through the 2008 season.

“AT&T and their 4000 Kansas employees are proud to sponsor the 44th SCCA Runoffs at HPT. Along with our partners at Heartland Park Topeka, we look forward to this year’s Runoffs and we wish all of the racers great success, ” said AT&T Manager of Sales and Operations Bill Phelan.

AT&T Inc. is a premier communications holding company in the United States and worldwide. AT&T is committed to community involvement in other areas, including sponsoring the U. S. Olympic Team and USA Gymnastics. AT&T has pledged to make their employee’s communities as strong and vibrant as possible.

“We are very excited to have AT&T become a part of the SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Heartland Park Topeka in October, ” said SCCA President Jim Julow. “It is a great fit to have the presenting sponsor be an internationally recognized company. AT&T’s presence will raise the profile of the event even further. ”

The SCCA National Championship Runoffs will be held at HPT October 8-14, 2007.

Heartland Park Topeka, a multi-purpose racing facility located in Topeka, Kan., annually hosts NHRA POWERade drag racing, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and many other pro and amateur drag racing, road racing, and dirt racing events throughout the race season.
