Frenchman Romain Grosjean took full advantage of starting from pole position to record a convincing victory in Race One at the GP2 meeting in Monaco.

Swiss-born French driver Grosjean started on pole and was best throughout in the principality. He and his Russian team-mate, who overtook Hulkenberg early on, were the stars of the day, both much faster than all their rivals and Grosjean himself in a field of his own as he crossed the line well ahead of his pal following a succession of super fast laps.
On that note, Grosjean also earned a point for the fastest lap, putting him in a strong position already in the embryonic stages of the current campaign. His adversaries will now look to haul him back in Saturday’s Sprint Race.
Di Grassi, like Patrov, managed to get past Hulkenberg and finish in third after a fine race, though one that still saw him 16 seconds off the pace. He was able to take advantage of the ART man’s pit-stops, however, to earn his place on the podium. Setanta Sports
