Over 400 Competitors to Race at Road America During SCCA June Sprints

Elkhart Lake, Wisc.
Jun 16, 2007

Over 400 competitors from across the nation will be racing at Road America during the Piggly Wiggly / Chicago Region SCCA June Sprints®, June 21-24, 2007. June Sprints is the first trophy stop to win amateur racing’s most prestigious title, the Triple Crown of Racing. To earn this title, competitors must win in their class at the June Sprints, win their respective divisional title and win at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs.

June Sprints is an event built on tradition; racers, their families and crew have mingled with each other and spectators for many years, creating lasting fans with a following for club racing. The family-friendly paddock offers up-close viewing of the cars and, with 30 car classes, fans can see a variety of cars ranging from showroom stock to highly modified, purpose-built racing machines.

June Sprints is also Road America’s annual Salute to Youth weekend–a great opportunity for non-profit youth organizations to attend the races at reduced rates.

The event schedule also includes the return of Drifting, a competitive sport where drivers compete in rear-wheel drive cars to keep their cars sideways as long as possible. Drifting will take place on Saturday at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex.

June Sprints tickets are available online at www.roadamerica.com or by phone, 800-365-7223. Daily admission is $10 Thursday, $15 Friday, and $25 each for Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 7 a. m. and races run rain or shine. Road America, a 628-acre year-round motor sports facility. In addition to major race events, Road America offers a motorcycle school, a supermoto school, corporate ATV and karting programs, and two karting clubs.
