Peru National Tour Returns To Its Traditional Independence Day Weekend Date At The Grissom Aeroplex

It’s a weekend for the Sports Car Club of America record books. For the first time in Solo history, a TireRack® SCCA National Tour event and an SCCA ProSolo event are scheduled for the same weekend in two separate locations. More than 350 Soloists will hit the pavement over the next two days at the Atlanta ProSolo and the Peru National Tour.
Stop eight of 10 on the 2007 schedule, the Peru National Tour returns to its traditional Independence Day weekend date at the Grissom Aeroplex. In a welcome change of pace, Peru, Ind., looks set for a weekend of perfect weather, a comfort to those who have experienced the severe storms that have pummeled the event in season’s past.
Four reigning SCCA Solo National Champions will be on hand in Peru including Bartek Barowski in D Stock, Crissy Weaver in F Stock Ladies, Matt Mccabe in C Street Prepared and Gary Godula in C Modified.
Further south, the Atlanta ProSolo is making waves with its DoubleCross Challenge at the Gwinett County Fairgrounds. The unique course design allows two competitors to race to the finish line without crossing each others’ paths. Still incorporating the Christmas tree start, the contest sounds like it will be just as much fun for the spectators as it is for the drivers.
Speaking of drivers, all 18 in the Street Touring S2 class are likely breathing a sigh of relief to see that Andy Hollis, who is undefeated in STS2 so far in 2007, has chosen Peru over Atlanta. Expect a hard fought competition from this group of Mazda Miatas and Honda CRXs this weekend.
