KYLE AT KANSAS: Kyle Busch has competed in three NASCAR Busch Series races at Kansas Speedway. He has earned two top-10 finishes at the intermediate track, including a career-best result of third in 2006. Busch also earned a seventh-place NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series finish at Kansas last year, marking another personal best at the venue.
TEAM 5 STATS: The No. 5 Sta-Green/Lowe’s team earned its second victory of the 2007 season at Richmond (Va. ) International Raceway two weeks ago. In 17 starts this season, the team has earned 11 top-five finishes and 13 top-10s, while leading the Busch Series with 941 laps led.
WINDING DOWN: With the Busch Series season winding down, Kyle Busch has only four races remaining in the No. 5 Chevrolet. Mark Martin will wrap the season up for the No. 5 team at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November.
SEASON’S HEATING UP: Busch and the No. 5 NEXTEL Cup team are battling for their first NEXTEL Cup championship, heading into Kansas only 10 points behind leader Jeff Gordon. As his season is looking up, so are the efforts of his favorite football team, the Michigan Wolverines. Busch spends his Saturdays keeping up with the Blue and Maize as their rough start to the college football schedule has faded. Michigan beat 10th-ranked Penn State last week and will play Northwestern on Saturday.
GO-TO CHASSIS: Crew chief Mike Bumgarner has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 356 for Saturday’s Busch Series race at Kansas Speedway. The car has been driven by Busch and Mark Martin at six intermediate tracks this season, earning one pole, five top-five finishes and six top-10s. It also has led 372 laps.

We’ve had some great runs. We’ve led the most laps this year. We’ve definitely been able to run up front and compete for wins. We just haven’t been able to knock ‘em out as much as we would’ve liked. That team is a great team that I’ve been involved with this year. They definitely had their stuff together. They’ve made it fun. “
BUSCH: (ON HIS TEAM’S GOAL OF WINNING FIVE RACES IN 2007. ) “I think that goal is still doable. We just have to have all the things go right and in the right direction. We’ve got the people. We’ll have the cars. We’ll be fine at the places we go to. We’ve just got to make sure that we execute and do what we need to do to keep it up front and win the races. “
BUSCH: (ON HIS SUCCESS ON INTERMEDIATE TRACKS. ) “There’s no particular reason. Just having good cars and having good guys work on them. We had that strong run at Vegas and missed out. We could have won at Atlanta, but had pit road problems with lugnuts. We should have won Chicago, but we came down pit road and pitted instead of staying out. We’ve been able to be in contention to win some of these, we’ve just made stupid mistakes. Hindsight is 20-20, so you can only do what you can see at the moment. Sometimes that takes the win away. ”
