Marcos Ambrose had made a strong start to this weekend’s Dollar General 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway by setting the ninth fastest time in final practice in Charlotte, North Carolina today.
Ambrose was ninth fastest in final practice, the top 10 start to proceedings a positive sign ahead of qualifying and the 200-lap race tomorrow.
The Australian drove the Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion to 17th fastest in opening practice earlier today, before scoring second fastest in rookie practice and then ninth in final practice.
This weekend’s race starts the final run of five races in six weeks to end this year’s 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season.
After a week spent at home in Charlotte with wife Sonja, two-year-old daughter Tabitha and newly born baby girl Adelaide, Ambrose is ready to get back to racing at a circuit not far from his US home.
Ambrose is currently eighth in the NASCAR Busch Series standings and second in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year points.

“We had a good day out there today and I think we are heading in the right direction for the race, ” said Ambrose.
“Handling is going to be pretty important so everyone had one eye on the race during today’s practice.
“I’ve had some good qualifying results at Lowe’s in the past and I’d love to get it up the front again tomorrow for the start, but the race is the focus.
“We have made a good start to the weekend and the team continues to doing everything really, really well, so I’m looking forward to the race tomorrow. ”
