Jeff Burton came from the back of the field Friday night to win the crash-filled NASCAR Busch Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.
The Nextel Cup star had a fast car but was overshadowed for much of the 200-lap race by runaway points leader Carl Edwards and pole-winner Greg Biffle, who swapped the lead back and forth several times before both went out in multicar accidents only seven laps apart. LATimes
“We had a really good car, “ Burton said. “It got better as the night went on. These guys (on the Richard Childress Racing crew) just kept making the car better all day. And, give them credit. They changed the engine, oil lines, everything (Thursday night), and the car was just great. “
There were 10 caution flags in the race and Burton said the final one, on Lap 182, gave him the win.
“We got lucky with that last caution, “ he said. “Junior was coming hard and I’m sure he would have gotten by us. But, after we got the tires cooled down during the caution, my car was fast, as fast as it had been all night. “

In a war of attrition—and on the night of a milestone—Jeff Burton pulled away from Kyle Busch during an 11-lap green-flag run to the finish to win the Dollar General 300 Busch Series race Friday night at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Burton finished 1.598 seconds ahead of Busch and extended the lead of his No. 29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to 116 points in the owner’s standings over the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Chevy driven by Denny Hamlin, who finished fifth.
