NASCAR Busch Series leader and 2005 Richmond winner Carl Edwards (No. 60 Scott’s Ford) is scheduled to test along with Roush Fenway Racing teammates David Ragan (No. 6 Discount Tire Ford), Todd Kluever (No. 16 3M Ford), Matt Kenseth (No. 17 Arby’s/Dish Network Ford) and Erik Darnell (No. 26 Roush Fenway Ford).
Six other drivers in the top 10 in the standings also are scheduled to participate: Kyle Busch (No. 5 Sta-Green/Lowe’s Chevrolet – third); Dave Blaney (No. 10 Camping World Toyota – fourth); Kenseth (fifth); Marcos Ambrose (No. 59 Kingsford Ford – seventh); Mike Wallace (No. 7 GEICO Chevrolet – ninth) and Bobby Hamilton Jr. (No. 35 McDonald’s Ford – 10th).
Edwards (NASCAR Busch Series) and Busch (NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series) are coming off wins last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Some of the series’ up-and-coming talent will be on display during the test. A pair of 19-year-olds – Steve Wallace (No. 66 HomeLife Communities Dodge) who won his first career pole at Bristol Motor Speedway last Saturday, Brad Coleman (No. 18 Carino’s Chevrolet), a developmental driver for Joe Gibbs Racing with two starts this year – lead the way.
Sam Hornish Jr. (No. 12 Mobil 1 Dodge), the 2006 Indianapolis 500 winner who drives a partial NASCAR Busch Series schedule for Penske Racing, also is scheduled to participate in the test. By qualifying for the May 4 Circuit City 250, he would become the first driver to race at Richmond in one of NASCAR’s top three national series as well as in the Indy Racing League.
