Intermediate tracks have been extremely rewarding to Stephen Leicht. He has posted his most promising finishes on 1-2 mile tracks, including one victory, two top-fives and six top-10’s. In addition he’s led over 30 laps. This weekend, as the series travels to Michigan International Speedway, Leicht hopes to add to those stats. He has one previous start at the 2-mile oval.
Leicht Michigan:
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s race at Michigan International Speedway. The CitiFinancial Team has our intermediate program right where it needs to be. We are also taking my favorite car to Michigan. ‘The Rocket’ has an average finish of seventh, so we are hoping for that same success this weekend. Michigan is a pretty cool track and it reminds me a lot of Kentucky. They both have big sweeping turns and plenty of room to move around and find the best line to get your car to handle. ”
Media Advance- In preparation for this weekend’s CARFAX 250, a Sunoco gas station in Plymouth, MI offered a gasoline promotion of regular unleaded for $2.50 per gallon. Leicht and MIS president Roger Curtis pumped gas for customers at the lowered prices.
Holding Strong- Leicht remains in the seventh position in the NBS driver point standings. He is 159 points shy of fifth.
Chassis Information- Crew Chief Cully Barraclough has selected chassis number 19 to compete in this weekend’s Carfax 250. Chassis #19 previously raced at Kentucky where Leicht scored his first NBS victory in June. It also raced at Chicago and Charlotte where Leicht finished 10th.
Racing For Shakes- Shane “Shakes” Hakes, who served as a tire specialist on the No. 90 crew was critically injured in a motorcycle accident on July 15. As Shakes continues to recover at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., the CitiFinancial Racing Crew and the No. 90 CitiFinancial Ford will carry the special “Racing for Shakes” logo.
Leicht’s NASCAR Busch Series Career Stats:
Starts: 46
Wins-1 (Kentucky 07)
