LEICHT WATKINS GLEN QUOTES-
“This entire team is pumped up from our fifth-place finish last week. The CitiFinancial Ford was awesome in Montreal and we are taking the same car to Watkins Glen so I’m looking forward to another solid finish. Anytime that you can take momentum from a great finish to the next track helps the entire team’s confidence. Someone once told me that your easiest top-10 finish will come on a road course race. If we can avoid trouble and stay on the course, we should be able to get another top-five run this weekend. ”
QUICK TURNAROUND- With the limited amount of time between the Montreal race and this weekends event in Watkins Glen, the No. 90 CitiFinancial Crew have setup shop just outside of Watkins Glen International. Five members of the road crew traveled from Montreal to Watkins Glen to prepare Chassis #3 to race in this weekend’s Zippo 200.
GAINING GROUND- Leicht moved up one position into seventh in the NBS driver point standings. He is now just 146 points shy of fifth. The CitiFinancial team gained four positions moving into the 18th spot in the owner point standings.
CLOSE TO HOME- Ryan Fugle, engineer and shock specialist on the No. 90 CitiFinancial Team, is returning home this weekend. Fugle, a native of Livonia, NY (45 minutes from Watkins Glen), moved to Charlotte, N.C. in 2003 to pursue a career in the Motorsports industry. He has been with the CitiFinancial crew since the fall of 06.
RACING FOR SHAKES- Shane “Shakes” Hakes, who served as a tire specialist on the No. 90 crew was critically injured in a motorcycle accident on July 15. As Shakes continues to recover at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., the CitiFinancial Racing Crew and the No. 90 CitiFinancial Ford will carry the special “Racing for Shakes” logo.
