Management of Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH regretfully announced that due to last Saturday evening’s fire that destroyed the track’s concession stand and office in addition to causing significant electrical issues this weekend’s weekly racing program and the following weekend’s World of Outlaw Late Model Series races have been cancelled. Track management will issue a press release within the next several days announcing when the track will reopen after assessments are done.
“It really saddens us that the fire happened, ” stated Ernie Coffman, owner & promoter of the track. “We are very grateful that no one was hurt, that’s wonderful. However, there is significant damage to not only the structure but the electrical system at the track. We are currently speaking with officials of the health department and building departments of Wayne County, among others, to ascertain when we can get repairs started and new construction done in a timely manner. We hope to know more in a couple days when we’ll be able to start renovations and get the track open again. ”
