Race fans in the Madison, Wisc., area will have the opportunity to bid on some one-of-a-kind racing memorabilia at the first annual “Todd Kluever Ride To Cure Diabetes. ” The auction will take place at Nora’s Tavern in Deerfield, Wisc., at the conclusion of the ride on Sunday, June 24. Fans do not have to participate in the motorcycle ride to bid on the auction items to benefit the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
“We have collected some pretty unique stuff, ” Kluever said. “We’ve got a few items that I think will be very popular in Wisconsin, like an autographed Matt Kenseth firesuit and a VIP weekend for the Busch and Nextel Cup races at Chicagoland Speedway. I want all the fans out there to know that even if they don’t have a motorcycle, or don’t want to ride, they can still come to Nora’s later that afternoon to place bids on the auction items. I’m trying to raise as much money as I can to help find a cure for diabetes, so all the fans who are at The Milwaukee Mile on Friday and Saturday can come to Nora’s for the auction on Sunday. “
Some of the items up for sale include: an autographed Matt Kenseth firesuit, a VIP weekend for two at Chicagoland Speedway including tickets and hospitality provided by 3M, a framed Sunoco checkered flag autographed by the Busch Series drivers at Talladega, a helmet autographed by all of the Roush Fenway Racing drivers and Jack Roush, four tickets to the Busch Series race at Gateway International Raceway, driver-autographed crew shirts, several autographed die-cast cars and sheet metal, and much more.
“There are a few items in the auction that I wouldn’t mind bidding on, ” Kluever said. “The framed Sunoco flag with all the Busch driver autographs is cool and the Roush Fenway Racing helmet is nice. The teams, sponsors and the tracks have been very generous by donating so many great items. Now we just need the fans to come out to support a very worthwhile cause. ”
