V8 Supercar rookie Jack Perkins has finalised a personal sponsorship with one of the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturers, Gas Gas.
Renowned for quality and performance, Gas Gas motorcycles are manufactured in Spain and imported into Australia by Solo Motorcycle Imports.
Gas Gas has won numerous World Enduro Championships, as well as the Australian Four Day Championship.
Perkins has selected the Gas Gas FSR450, a bike that has received high praise for its fuel injected four stroke motor as well as its outstanding steering and handling. Standard futures include an APT slipper clutch and digital multifunction speedometer.
A keen motorcycle rider since he could first throw his leg over a mini-bike, 21-year-old Perkins is thrilled with his new association with Gas Gas, which runs through the 2008 V8 season.
“I’ve been riding bikes at the family farm for years and now I finally have a bike that I can show off to my mates, ” said Perkins.
“The Gas Gas bikes are awesome and the quality and reliability is second to none.
“Most other V8 Supercar drivers use trail bikes as an interest away from racing, and also as another way to keep fit for racing, so my Gas Gas FSR450 will get plenty of use for workouts and fun. ”
Gas Gas Australia’s John Fretten is also happy with the new relationship.
“Perkins is a legendary Australian motorsport name and Jack is a rising star, driving for one of the most professional V8 teams in Jack Daniel’s Racing, ” said Fretten.
“We’re delighted Jack chose Gas Gas as his choice of ride, it shows that his professionalism is also there when it comes to what bike he’s on.
“We are looking forward to watching Jack race at Bathurst and following him through the 2008 season. ”
Perkins will carry Gas Gas signage on his racing helmet for the first time during this weekend’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, where he will join regular team-mate Shane Price in the lead Old No. 7 Jack Daniel’s Racing Holden Commodore race car.
