AAMCO’s “Got A Gal” In New Sponsorship Role

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing announced Thursday that the world’s largest transmission specialist repair chain, AAMCO Transmissions, has signed on to sponsor the IndyCar Series’ Most Popular Driver, Sarah Fisher, starting with the Bridgestone Indy Japan 300. Fisher will star in the company’s nationwide “I Got a Guy” ad campaign which will include television, radio, internet and print advertising. “We are thrilled to have a powerful brand like AAMCO join our growing team,” said team co-owner Dennis Reinbold.

“Welcoming new partners to the IndyCar Series is something that we take pride in and this new partnership will be no different. AAMCO brings a strong product and merging that with the Sarah Fisher/DRR brand will yield a great partnership to benefit both parties.” AAMCO has over 830 centers in the U. S. and Canada and is one of the nation’s most recognizable brand names, built over the past 40 years. AAMCO has been a pioneer in the use of celebrity endorsements, linking the company name over the years with such notables as Leo Durocher, Wilt Chamberlain, Johnny Unitas, James Brolin and Robin Williams. Fisher will be the first female athlete and only the second woman to represent the company after Zsa Zsa Gabor, the company’s first spokesperson. As a result, AAMCO enjoys 92 percent brand awareness and is the nation’s fastest growing chain of transmission specialists, adding over 100 locations this past year.

“AAMCO Transmissions is very excited to be partnering with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and supporting Sarah Fisher’s return to open wheel racing for the 2007 season,” said Todd Leff, President and CEO of AAMCO Transmission. “Sarah has great potential and we think she can bring the AAMCO name to victory lane this year. She is also one of the most popular drivers in the IndyCar Series and we know that she will be a fine representative for the AAMCO brand.”

For years AAMCO has been an innovator in the transmission industry, being the first to offer lifetime warranties, offering a free Transcan™ service, the most complete free check in the industry and by providing industry recognized technical training programs for its technicians. In the last three years, AAMCO has expanded its range of services into Complete Car Care and Fisher will be the highlight of a new campaign educating consumers about symptoms of car or transmission problems. In the campaign, backed by a hard driving theme song, Sarah is approached in some amusing situations by consumers with car problems. Each time, Sarah tells the consumer “don’t worry, I gotta guy - AAMCO.” The new commercials were shot in Los Angeles last week and should start to air in May.

“Teaming with Sarah Fisher will provide AAMCO dealers with a great marketing platform for 2007,” said Mike Ganjei, Chairman of AAMCO’s National Creative Committee. “Sarah is someone our dealers can root for on the track and to see the AAMCO Transmission IndyCar racing in the Indianapolis 500 is going to be very exciting. Our new commercials with Sarah will help us reach women and a younger audience who naturally trust Sarah and the companies she endorses.”

Fisher began her IndyCar career in 1999 at just 19 years old with Walker Racing. In 50 career starts, Fisher has posted three top-fives, seven top-tens and became just the third women to start in the Indianapolis 500. She went on to become the first woman to run a full IndyCar Series schedule and the first and only women to stand on the podium with her third place finish at Kentucky Speedway in 2000; she has since bested that position with second at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2001. Further, she became the first woman in North American motorsports history to win the pole position for a major-league open-wheel race at Kentucky Speedway in 2002. She is also the fastest women to ever qualify for the Indianapolis 500 with a speed of 229.439.
