For the second time in 24 hours, Andrew Prendeville finished all 29 laps of an Indy Pro Series race at Watkins Glen International Sunday afternoon.

He was in the top 10 in both halves of the Corning Twin 100s doubleheader. He improved his tenth-place finishing position on Saturday by two positions on Sunday, placing eighth in the nightcap with his Best Friends Animal Society No. 5.

Fans who contributed to the Best Friends Animal Society through the racinglapsforbestfriends.com Web site or at the Racing Laps for Best Friends tent in the infield of the 3.4-mile road course will be multiplying the full 58 laps times their pledge amounts. All the money raised through the Watkins Glen doubleheader was earmarked for the Pets Alive shelter in Middletown, N.Y., which Best Friends stepped in to run when its founder died unexpectedly this spring.

Best Friends assists animal welfare groups around the world and it also operates the largest no-kill animal shelter in the United States at its headquarters in Kanab, Utah.

Prendeville, who drives for RLR/Andersen Racing, started tenth in Sunday’s race. The Morristown, N.J. -based driver got ninth right away because Bobby Wilson, who started second, spun in Turn 1 at the start.

From lap two until lap 19 Prendeville had his hands full because he was directly behind Jonathan Klein’s car, which was dropping oil. Jaime Camara got around Prendeville on lap 19 to push him back to tenth, but Prendeville got Camara back on lap 23 to regain ninth.

Prendeville got around Klein on lap 26 to move into eighth, and that’s where he was running when the checkered dropped on lap 29.

“Just like yesterday, Jono’s [Jonathan Klein’s] car was spewing oil the entire race, ” Prendeville said after climbing out of his car on pit road after Sunday’s race.

“I passed Camara in the Bus Stop. He got loose because he got in Jono’s oil, and I took advantage of it just like he took advantage of the same thing earlier when I got in Jono’s oil and he passed me.

“We were all faster than Jono, and once we got by him we clearly showed that, ” he added. “The RLR/Andersen guys did an awesome job with the car. Now we’ll go on to the next race. “

The fastest race lap was recorded by race winner Alex Lloyd. Runner-up Wade Cunningham was the next-fastest driver, but Prendeville was third in that category. Prendeville’s fastest race lap for the 3.4-mile road course was done in 1:38.8626 (122.716 miles per hour), just 0.6728 off Lloyd’s mark.
