Dreyer & Reinbold Racing has completed practice and qualifying on Friday for Saturday nights Meijer Indy 300 with drivers Buddy Rice and Milka Duno qualifying 15th and 18th, respectively.
In practice, Rice turned 119 laps with a best time of 24.5730 seconds (216.823 mph) around the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway.
In qualifying, he ran a four-lap average of 216.609 mph. His four lap times were 24.6110, 24.6033, 24.5954, and 24.5795. The 15th-starting spot is one better than 2007, impressive given the increase in entries for 2008.
Duno made 104 circuits around the track in practice with a best time of 24.7365 seconds (215.390 mph). Her four-lap qualifying average was 215.694 mph.
Her 18th starting spot is one of her best qualifying results for 2008. This is the third time she’s qualified in the top-20. She was 16th in Kansas and Nashville. She looks to improve on Saturday night upon her best finish of 2008, also a 16th in Kansas.
Throughout the day, both drivers commented on how comfortable they felt with their cars in race trim and feel confident they will put in good showings during the race.
